Bast. The Great Cat Goddess
Other Names: Bastet. Ailuros Sekmet.
Probably the most
famous Egyptian goddess. Bast was a wild goddess. To those who were in her
favour, she gave great blessings, but her wrath was legendary especially in her
wrathful form of Sekmet, and she was sometimes listed as one of Ra's avenging
deities who punish the sinful and the enemies of Egypt. This is of course in
keeping with her totem animal, the cat. Cats were sacred to Bast, Her worship
was widespread, and her cult apparently had a great deal of power.
This 5 and a half inch aniqued resin statue will bring protection to your home (and cats) and should be placed in a prominent position facing the main door of your room.
Also a wonderful addition to an altar for protection spells and ceremonies, and as a 'visualization aid' to create a protective 'thought-form'.
