BLOG 2.
Well! this must surly have been the coldest night we have ever experienced!
We didn't get any more snow
thank goodness! but it was almost painful to breath outside the air was so cold!
Olly (our male cockatiel) who
has been recently widowed, and who now lives in a suitably large cage in the
veranda, had to be taken into one of the workshops over night as we were worried
about him freezing to his perch! So there he will stay today and over the
week-end till it warms up, He has a heater and a radio for company. He seems
quite happy with the situation....and if your wondering why we don't bring him
into the house instead? with three cats having access to every room, and one
having
acrobatic
tendencies...not a good idea! We have discovered that he loves all the coming
and going on the veranda ( where we virtually live and eat during the summer)
The two dogs pass under his cage all the time and he loves their company it
seems. He also likes to throw his old sunflower husks at them! Since he has been
on his own, we have discovered that he has quite an extensive vocabulary, and
its lovely to be wished "Good Morning" at any time of day....and he never tires
of telling us that he is a "pretty pretty pretty pretty boy"!
Today we need to brave the
weather and go out for a little while. I shall try to remember to take my
camera. Isn't it funny how you see wonderful snow scenes and sunsets when you
have left it at home? I expect today may be uniformly grey if I manage to
remember to take it with me!
